What we teach

The IELTS for University Applicants syllabus, in full.

Writing Task 1 and Task 2.

Task 1 (academic): summarising visual information. Task 2 (essay): structured argumentation. The two sections that most often pull a student's overall band down.

Reading.

Three passage types, time management, the question types that catch most candidates out (matching headings, true / false / not given). Strategy as much as comprehension.

Listening.

Section-by-section preparation. Note-taking, prediction skills, and the precise spelling and grammar that examiners reward.

Speaking.

Mock speaking-test simulation with feedback against the four band descriptors: fluency and coherence, lexical resource, grammatical range and accuracy, pronunciation.

How lessons run.

Sessions are typically scheduled across an 8 to 12 week block leading up to a test date. Mock tests every two to three weeks, with detailed feedback against the band descriptors. We tell candidates when they are ready and when they should defer the test.
