Who we are
A steady hand for serious students.
Sophyra Tutors is an independent online tutoring practice for A-Level and IB Diploma Programme students. We work alongside families through the high-stakes years of upper-secondary education and university entry.
Our tutors are subject specialists, not generalists. Every student is matched to a tutor by subject, exam board, and goal, and every tutor file is read in full before any lesson is delivered. Once a student begins, the same tutor stays with them for the whole journey.
Sophyra Tutors Ltd is registered in England and Wales (company number 16822139, registered office 27 Old Gloucester Street, London WC1N 3AX). We are a Corporate Member of The Tutors Association and registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under registration ZC045375.

Joseph Russell-Bishop.
Founder and Sciences Lead
Joseph is a Chemical Engineer (BEng, MSc). He founded Sophyra Tutors after several years in supply-chain operations at Amazon, where he saw what consistent, well-engineered systems can do for serious work, and what their absence costs.
He sets the academic standard for every tutor on the panel, with particular attention to making the sciences and mathematics rigorous and intelligible for students who intend to take them further. Joseph is the sole shareholder and director of Sophyra Tutors Ltd.
Education adviser and DSL
Natalia Ambridge.
Education Adviser and DSL
Natalia is our Education Adviser and DSL, Level 3 qualified. She brings over twenty years of leadership experience in international education across the United Kingdom, Azerbaijan, Oman, and Türkiye, and that experience sits behind every safeguarding and quality decision we make.
She has worked at every tier of school leadership, from Deputy Head through Head of Prep to whole-school Principal, and she advises boards and leadership teams in her separate consulting practice. As DSL for Sophyra Tutors she sets our safeguarding policies, designs the training, and personally reads every tutor file before it is opened.
Our tutor panel

Our panel is small by design. Specialists in Mathematics, the Sciences, English for university entry, and the most competitive UK admissions routes, including Oxbridge and the UCAT.
Many of our tutors hold senior teaching roles at British international or UK independent schools alongside their work with us. The panel includes current and former Heads of Department, exam-board markers, and PhD holders in their subject specialisms.
Every tutor is independent, freelance, and contracted to Sophyra Tutors Ltd under a written agreement that incorporates our Safeguarding and Safer Recruitment policies. Every tutor works through our five-step vetting process before they meet a student.
